Delaware Valley University Professor Spends Sabbatical at Cornell University
Delaware Valley University Professor of Horticulture returned to her alma mater, Cornell University, for the fall 2018 semester to serve as a visiting faculty member. Dr. Ricotta spent her fall sabbatical as a visiting faculty member in Cornell’s School of Integrative Plant Science.
During her time at Cornell, Dr. Ricotta also sat in on four courses; gave a guest lecture in one class; and was invited to be the peer reviewer for three courses. She also presented a seminar for the Cornell horticulture department about incorporating hands-on learning in classes.
“I met with numerous plant science faculty, undergraduate and graduate students; learned about their curriculum, and attended many plant science seminars,” said Dr. Ricotta. “I was also able to participate in a USDA Project Director meeting in Albuquerque. In my spare time, I hiked in the beautiful parks in the Finger lakes and visited sites from around the area.”
The semester at Cornell provided Dr. Ricotta with a chance to share her insight on hands-on learning and with faculty from another institution while learning new information to bring back to DelVal’s Dz.
