Dr. Rice joined DelVal in 2022 after 24 years of clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist (SLP). She worked as a licensed, certified SLP in various settings across the human lifespan and scope of practice. She brings years of supervisory experience with SLP graduate students, SLP Assistants (SLP-A), and clinical fellows. Dr. Rice currently serves as the faculty advisor for DelVal’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) student organization. She is excited to give back to the next generation of speech-language pathologists by sharing her extensive knowledge with SLP graduate students at DelVal.

Dr. Rice completed her Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology in 2023 at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. She is a lifelong learner, earning multiple continuing education awards from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Rice has also participated in interprofessional conference presentations and participated in the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPSCD) DEI academy in 2024. Dr. Rice is currently pursuing her EdD in Higher Education Administration at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Rice has worked in interdisciplinary research with occupational therapists to address the transition of transgender youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder from school to the community. She has also conducted research in the area of child language disorders, specifically related to semantic language.

As the Founding Director of Clinical Education, Dr. Rice aims to prepare students to enter the workforce and ensure they have sufficient clinical experiences at DelVal. She is able to utilize her experiences and resources to facilitate the bridge from theory to practice for the future SLPs in the DelVal MS-SLP program.
